Microdata.no free throughout 2020

The free period for microdata.no is extended from April 1, 2020 to January 1, 2021. All access agreements will be automatically updated.

Institutions that wish to continue to use microdata.no at no charge don’t need to take any action. As long as you don’t specifically request anything else, all institution agreements for free use of microdata.no will automatically be extended until December 31, 2020.

Institutions with no wish to extend the free period can report this to microdata@ssb.no before March 1, 2020.

All institutions with an agreement will receive a letter about this opportunity.

Users of microdata.no have either 12 (students) or 24 months (scientific staff) access from the first login. Access cannot be longer than the Institutional Agreement and no longer than December 31, 2020. If your access expires in 2020, your institution need to give you new access. In such case, contact your local microdata.no administrator.

Statistics Norway and the Norwegian Center for Research Data (NSD) are in the process of planning the financing model for microdata.no. The model and price list will be available during the first half of 2020. From January 1, 2021, the institutions will be required to pay a deductible for access to the platform.
