Khrono.no on microdata.no and the fine balance between confidentiality and research needs:
As one of two finalists in The Norwegian Data Protection Authority’s (DPA) competition for best built-in confidentiality, the solution developed by Norwegian Centre for Research Data (NSD) and Statistics Norway (SSB) won the first price.
More variables are on their way. Microdata.no will during 2019 expand with even more variables. The first new variables will be in place during the spring. For more information about variables to be added, and when, please check microdata.no.
NSD and Statistics Norway will continually publish the latest news concerning the microdata.no service on Twitter. By following @microdataNO, it is possible to stay updated and receive notifications when something new has happened.
Previously, one had to wait until the complete script was fully executed in order to see the results. This new solution makes it possible to view the result of each command-expression continually as they are automatically executed. This makes it easier to see how far the execution has come, and how much is left.
It is now possible to perform panel data regression analysis through microdata.no. Panel data are datasets where each unit (individual) takes values for all variables and all measurement dates specified in the import-panel expression.
Due to security measures, all users have until now been automatically logged out from their work session after 10 minutes of idle time. Of practical reasons, this limit is now reset to 20 minutes in order to improve the user experience.
